A huge tropical low moved in from the north and the whole outback area of Australia copped a huge amount of rain, so we had floods sweeping in from all sides and all the roads were closed. When this happens, anyone travelling on the highways just has to stop at whatever closure point they've managed to reach until the roads are cleared again.
So yesterday Meeka was FULL of trucks in every available spare spot and in the parking bays at the north & south of town, and all the truckies heading for the pub. I had to take the Landcruiser into town to go get Gaz, as our track was too deep underwater for his car. Everyone kind of gave up on trying to get any work done & just hung about under the front pub overhangs, swapping gossip. It was a relief from the 50 degree temperatures we've had for over a week!
