Orstraya Day Photos

All the homestead ponies were done up for the occasion

Gary on harmonica, SJ the Korean on drums, Steve "Get A Haircut Yer Bastard"
on bass, Eric in the middle on guitar - Eric is legally blind but can see a tiny
pinhole view up close, and he keeps the band from degenerating into
a shambling noise mess

Clarrie singing his own compositions, which mostly go like this:
"He may have been a drover, or a ringer on his own
He died among the gum trees, a digger far from home"

Old shearer's beds in the foreground, ready for drunken soft landings

SJ the Korean wins the crowd over with a drum solo

Lindsay the homestead caretaker with Chutney the miniature horse -
Chutney has Aussie flags woven into her mane

You're not true blue unless yer got yer old hat

The local (as in from 300 km away) homestead owners from all
around Meekatharra, wearing their party clothes - shy, lovely blokes

Meeka townsfolk Clarrie and Micho (Micho plays Santa on the annual
lolly run and also manages the Commercial Hotel)

Nigel is a big sweetie, he had polio as a child but still manages
to stagger around and is manager of the hardware store, everyone loves him

My fave photo of the day! It doesn't get more Aussie than that
