The Town Parade

The parade was hilarious. And rigged! The Community Resource Centre, who made no effort other than to stick some balloons on a ute, won 2nd prize, while 1st prize went to some scabby kid on a bike. No fair! Gossip and muttering were rife at the races afterwards, and it was only by sheer luck that a bottle fight didn't break out in the ladies toilets.

Michelle the pyrotechnician setting off the fireworks

Wheee! Things blowing up and catching fire

Tyler and Bithun in the "muscle shirts" we got as a joke
for our brigade float

Gary, dignified as usual

The whole town lines up to cheer us on

Ross Howden from Murchison Downs Station tied all the mustering
Suzukis together into a road train and the station kids rode on them
with stock whips and hats

A classic Meeka sight

The police got the horses out for the parade - the horses even
had special police boots on!

Wiluna mob come to town - the usual sulky, surly faces

Dave (who's renting my house) did up his ute with some of my bus
paint as the "Dukes of Hazzard" float

The station kids on the "road train"

Greg in the old fire fighting uniform & brass hat

Bithun and Tyler are always complaining that they never
meet any girls in Meeka - stop talking about the pump and
look behind you, sillies!
