Port Germein

Day 30. Strange humid weather, rain coming. Port Germein is an odd little place with the best junk shop you have ever seen. Port Germein is a conflabulation of an old aboriginal phrase "Woolloolooloolooloo" which roughly means "let's build the longest wooden jetty in the southern hemisphere here on these massive tidal flats and then not use it for anything". The water is crystal clear & it's a lovely spot.

Here for 2 nights then to Port Augusta so that Waggin' Trail can have a good pre-flight check prior to the Nullarbor. Once again asking for an unpowered site gets me a primo spot in the tiny, cramped caravan park. Despite being metres from the sweeping Yorke Peninsula water views & Southern Flinders Ranges it is designed so that any scenic views are carefully obscured by corrugated amenity buildings & eye-level fences.

Longest wooden jetty in Australia.
Caravan park is behind the big building in the b/g.

My view from the caravan park site.
