Ooh, Posh

Well the new panel thing that hides the air conditioner hole is up, and the front of the house is pretty much painted. I have definitely created a bit of a showstopper on Main Street! My closest rival would be the mural on the swimming pool enclosure wall, which is a painting that the aboriginal kids did of themselves riding in a bus. The bus is being driven by a MONKEY. If a white artist had done it there would have been riots (well, more riots than usual).

On the other side of the road a huge sign has just gone up on the north face of the old flying doctor building, warning truck drivers to watch out for "KILLER ROOS! HAVE A REST!" It is so over the top, startling and confusing that you just about drive off the road as it confronts you on your way into town. So with that on one side and my extremely eye catching paint job, I'm sure I'll have a road train through the fence any day now.

Gary came round and we put the panel up together, then he fixed the bus headlight, screwed the licence plate on (it was tied on with wire), took me to the tip and found me some huge wide planks, pallets and a light stand which he fixed up for my work light, plus some old window shutters. I made spaghetti carbonara and took it round to his place and had a hot bath (Gary actually CLEANED THE BATH for me, I don't think this has ever actually happened in the outback before). Then he tried to get in with me, which resulted in the tiny bath being packed like a Spam slab with human body and about half a cup of actual water. Clearly we are not doing a very good job with this "having a break" thing.

Anyway, we're off on a Gazza Tour later on after Sunday laundry chores. Here are some photos of the front of the house.
