Well we are currently having a very interesting multi-insect plague - locusts, green mayflies, and scarab beetles. Plus a bunch of other exoskeletal critters including something that ate its way through one of our mattresses until Duncan smashed it with a stick.
Gooch and Smokey are going mad chasing the locusts everywhere and bringing them into our buses (thanks cheers). The scarab beetles are EVERYWHERE and in EVERYTHING but they are so beautiful with their iridescent blue/green shells that you sort of don't mind. Well at least I hope our guests don't mind because I keep folding them into the bed sheets. It's all road crew guys in again at the moment anyway so they probably just think they're big crab cooties from last night's Danish backpackers.
Here is a road crew worker asking me for a fresh towel, diesel tool or possibly a hand job :
(you guessed it - no front teeth)
RC: Ungh. Garna fughin narrvon er wat love?
ME: Good morning, how are you today sir?
RC: Glrg. Yez gotta tarlgh?
ME: A towel?
RC: Nah mate a fughin tarlgh fermee fuckin truck mate eh.
ME: We have a West Australian translator on site, I will just go and get him for you.
Raelene tells me that when we get the next locust plague (this is just a warm up), we will be shovelling them out of our rooms by the bucketful each day. Won't that be fun!
