There Is Nothing to Fear Except Fear Itself...and the laundry basket

The plan to have Rocky the great big Rottweiler as the Overlander Guard Beast is not quite working to plan. Yesterday Honey, who is smaller than Rocky's head, walked up and took his bone off him. Then when I went past with the wheelbarrow he nearly had a nervous breakdown. He is also scared of the laundry basket, Gooch, Smokey, his food dish and some chairs.

Russell's young son Dale is walking him around the compound & trying to get him used to things but he's such a big baby sook! We love him. Last night he came over to the hacienda carport hangout and played with Gooch & Honey, who bossed him around like mad. Then he tried to get in my bus and wouldn't go home.

In other breaking roadhouse news, Jason (who is hysterically funny) will be coming back in September to manage the place for a month (I turned it down!). He's going to Perth for a few weeks to try out a new job working at a transvestite brothel with his new leather outfit. I will post photos if he lets me. What will Gooch wear at work??? Maybe he should take the Rottweiler.

Two of the part time girls have disappeared (voluntarily, we assume) with the departing road crew and the two new women are starting to cave in under the long days...this weekend we are down to three of us running the roadhouse, which is insane. Duncan and I tried to kidnap a passing electrician ("Can you cook?") My suggestion is to make foreign backpackers hand over their passports when buying fuel, then hold them hostage as dish-pigs and toilet cleaners.

Seriously, if any of you want some work, come on over. The pay is good and there's a nice carport to sleep in. If you last more than a week, we'll even give you a mattress.
