May 4, 2011. Accompanied by the expedition photographer, Johnson, I set forth to summit Mt. Wudinna, a gruelling 1 km climb which has never before been attempted by a cat.
Johnson insists on bringing one of the camp dogs, a creature of no use whatsoever (unless one requires an exemplification of obsequious, slathering lack of self control and greed). For the sake of team morale, I relent - it may also prove useful should we run short of food.
We set off from base camp. Already in my mind I am composing my next letter to the Royal Geographic Society. We shall hear no further jocularity about mice after this vast undertaking.
