For Whom the Chiko Rolls

For those of you unfamiliar with Australian fine dining, we have a snack food (I use the word "food" euphemistically) called the "Chiko Roll". Throughout history no one has ever been able to find out what it is actually made of, but it's basically a deep fried battered item shaped like a longish toilet roll and the primary ingredient is bowel cancer. There are no recorded incidents of a woman eating a Chiko roll, despite its advertising campaign consisting mostly of bikini-clad models pretending to eat them, and men buy these abominations from the roadhouse by the hundreds each day (possibly explaining the horror of the public toilets). Even the dog blanches at the offer of a Chiko roll, preferring the three-day old stinky kangaroo tail bones out the back of the diesel shed.

Chiko roll - passes through the body without being digested
In spite of the temptations of the mixed grill, Chiko rolls and deep-fried chicken organs on offer here as part of our staff food supply, I have stocked up on sprouted grain bread and fruit from Carnarvon - it's beautiful fruit, grown locally & organically, and actually tastes like fruit!

Deep fried Corn Jacks - now that's a different story...mmmmm....corrrrrnnnn jaacckksssssss
