We're loving our watertank house campsite - got the inflatable boat going and had a quick sunset fishin' trip (the river is just a minute's walk from the bus). So far no one has dobbed us in to the council for illegal camping, which makes this a 48 hour vagrant loitering record. Greg popped by and gave us a bag of fresh tiger prawns, and we have just watched our seventh spaghetti western movie (I don't think we can take any more; the storylines are pretty much where's the gold / who's got the map / let's cash in the bounty, with various Italian actresses doing bad "oh no you've torn my blouse from my heaving bosom you brute" carry-ons in between slow motion shoot-outs & men staring at each other too much).
My daydream of bucolic alpaca bliss was rudely crushed when I found myself locked in mortal combat with Kenny, my hands around his throat, as a result of him suddenly taking a violent dislike to my hat. Temporarily cutting off his air supply did the trick and now he keeps a disdainful distance, but we don't dare turn our backs on him. Matilda is shy but gentle and plays with the little cat! Hurley the idiot dog loves the kitten too and picks it up & carries it around the yard by the scruff of the neck. We're not sure how smart the kitten is; my bet is that it will get eaten by Kenny or the dog by the end of the week.
Smokey is not impressed by the menagerie but enjoys coming into town with me & walking on the river track. It's a good thing we are camped on the other side of the fence as all the animals follow you around in a shambling pack and we barely have enough room in the bus bed as it is.
Tomorrow's challenging activity: where to hang the new hammock?
