The Hills Are Not Hills

All the hills around town are piles of earth dug up from mines - the
entire landscape is a ravaged series of open pits, but it's weirdly
beautiful. The colours are wonderful, the heat is intense, and you
come across all kinds of strange things abandoned on the ground.

Out the back of St Barbara mine

Gary showin' me round the open cut mine pits

We came across this amazing huge mine pit filled with water

Thunderheads build in the distance

Left-over mine sample bags

Gary heading to the edge of a pit

Another water-filled pit

Erosion making it look like canyons

Steep pit right on the edge of town -
there are DOZENS of them

Just up the road from the roadhouse
